Discover the Thermalist Method with Clyde Coast Saunas

Our resident Thermalist Method Instructor, Sharon, first discovered the power of contrast therapy not through science — but through necessity. After years of working in the wellness industry, designing and building spas and saunas with her husband, Sharon found herself facing chronic stress and burnout. Searching for balance, she turned to sauna and cold water exposure — and what started as personal recovery soon became something transformational.
The combination of heat and cold didn’t just help her feel better, it reshaped her entire life. As her mental clarity and physical resilience improved, so did her curiosity. Sharon wanted to understand why contrast therapy had such a powerful effect, and that search led her to Dr Susanna Søberg — a global leader in heat and cold exposure science and creator of the Thermalist Method.
Developed through over a decade of metabolic research, the Thermalist Method is a science-backed approach that emphasises both safety and accessibility — making the benefits of contrast therapy available to everyone. Sharon completed her training under Dr Søberg in Sweden, becoming one of the UK’s first certified Thermalist Method Instructors.
At Clyde Coast Saunas, we’ve created a beautiful, natural setting to host these workshops — blending wild Scottish landscape with wood-fired saunas, ice barrels, a cold plunge, hot tub, and outdoor showers. It’s the ideal space to reconnect with your body and mind.
